Practical Dementia Awareness training designed to increase learners' understanding of dementia and develop compassionate, person-centred approaches that promote dignity, independence and quality of life.
Training is tailored to the organisation's service and may include:
• Understanding dementia and common types of dementia
• Recognising signs, symptoms and changes in presentation
• Understanding how dementia may affect communication and behaviour
• Person-centred communication and support
• Responding to distress and changes in behaviour
• Supporting choice, independence and meaningful engagement
• Creating supportive environments
• Promoting dignity, rights and quality of life
Suitable for adult social care providers, residential and nursing services, domiciliary care, supported living, healthcare organisations and professionals supporting people living with dementia.
