Supporting People with Learning Disabilities: Advanced Practice

Practical advanced learning disability training designed to develop learners' understanding beyond basic awareness and strengthen person-centred approaches when supporting people with learning disabilities.

Training is tailored to the organisation's service and may include:

• Understanding learning disabilities beyond awareness
• Communication needs and accessible approaches
• Promoting choice, independence and self-advocacy
• Understanding behaviour as communication
• Supporting emotional wellbeing and regulation
• Health inequalities and reasonable adjustments
• Positive risk-taking and reducing restrictive practice
• Developing consistent, strengths-based and person-centred support

Suitable for adult social care providers, children's services, supported living, residential services, healthcare organisations and professionals who already have a basic understanding of learning disabilities and want to develop their practice further.
